Smooth Pops

Smooth Pops is a Queens-based manufacturer of all-natural and vegan fruit smoothie ice pops made with 100% whole fruit in classic freezer pop form. The business was launched earlier this year by Movitzsa Simmons, who found a lack of healthy frozen snacks in the marketplace for her young son. Recognizing this market niche, she sought to produce nutritious fruit smoothie ice pops with a taste that kids and adults alike would love in an easy-to-go, mess-free tube.

 

Movitzsa contacted the Pace University Small Business Development Center (SBDC) to secure feedback on her pitch as a finalist for the Queens StartUP! Competition hosted by the Queens Economic Development Corporation. She met with Pace SBDC Business Advisor Sandra Cely, who helped her sharpen her pitch as well as flesh out her start-up costs and financial projections. With this guidance, Smooth Pops won the competition, providing Movitzsa with a $10,000 cash prize and enabling her to create two new jobs.
