CPA Accounting Clinic

November 15th, from 12 noon - 2:00 pm

The Pace University SBDC and CPAs from the New York State Society of CPAs partnered to offer a CPA Accounting Clinic for New York State small businesses. Through this effort coordinated by the Pace SBDC, CPA volunteers met one-to-one with NYSBDC small business clients statewide to review specific accounting questions related to their small businesses. These virtual sessions addressed questions in areas such as tax filing responsibilities and tax minimization strategies, providing much-needed industry expertise to complement the free one-to-one counseling services offered by NYSBDC Business Advisors.

Small Business Website Workday (In-Person at the NYPL)

Lots of clients joined the Pace SBDC’s Business Advisors for a no-cost, two-hour “website workday” at the Thomas Yoseloff Business Center at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Library at 455 Fifth Avenue in midtown Manhattan.

Whether participants had an existing small business website or wanted to launch one, the workshop was an opportunity to build or improve the site with business advisors available to answer questions and provide 1:1 assistance. All platforms and skill levels were welcome. Participants brought their ideas and challenges, and together they worked on their websites.

El NYC Business Solutions Center presentó este taller para presentar a la comunidad hispana los recursos y herramientas que el Estado y la Ciudad de Nueva York ofrecen sin costo a las pequeñas empresas.


Una de las preocupaciones más comunes de los empresarios era saber qué permisos y licencias necesitaba su negocio para operar en la Ciudad y Estado de Nueva York. En este taller, explicamos cómo encontrar las agencias a las que postular y también cómo encontrar un asesor municipal que pueda evaluar su negocio para determinar si cumple con los requisitos gubernamentales.

Intellectual Property Rights for Entrepreneurs

 Pace University Small Business Development Center (SBDC)  partnered with the City Bar Justice Center’s Neighborhood Entrepreneur Law Project (NELP) to bring legal professionals in collaboration with small businesses to help navigate through the intricacies of intellectual property law to better protect start-up ideas and business concepts. This presentation was followed with a Q&A after the event.


Small Business Financing and Networking Session(In-Person)

Pace University Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and the US Small Business Administration (SBA) hosted a free forum for existing small business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs in need of valuable insight on how to provide practical strategies to finance their small businesses. The session included a panel featuring small business lenders who  highlighted what they look for when evaluating a loan application, typical loan terms, and the documents needed to apply. This panel also included an in person opportunity to meet one-on-one with lenders to assess the source of capital that is best suited for their business needs. 

Business Entity Formation

The Pace University Small Business Development Center (SBDC) partnered with the City Bar Justice Center to explain the different forms of business structures to guide small business owners on how to form thier companies. With words and a Q&A from the presenting attorney, the webinar discussed the respective benefits and tax implications of each structure, as well as the steps and corresponding costs associated with each.
